Hi from New Jersey!
My name is Melissa and I have a 2 1/2 yr old Iggy named Pinot! We have been meaning to register for IG post from a reference from Primo. Finally here we are...
Pinot had a very strange episode yesterday morning in which we think is a seizure. I'm wondering if anyone has any insight. Our friends were over for breakfast yesterday, and all of a sudden, I looked down and Pinot was sitting on the floor shaking and leaning on our friends leg. I picked him up, and his whole body was shaking uncontrollably and his body was like jello. We went to put him down and his back legs gave out and he couldn’t stand up. Within 5-7 minutes after that, he was fine.
We went to the animal hospital, all of the tests came back normal except a little dehydration and he has a grade 1 heart murmur. (They did blood work, ecg and neurological exam). They wanted to do a chest x-ray, but he wouldn’t cooperate.
We are going to our regular vet tomorrow afternoon, but needless to say, I am a mess today.
We have never seen anything like this with him before, and he’s always been really healthy. We had a weird episode with him “walking in circles” about 2-3 months ago, but never happened again.
I've emailed our breeder to alert her as well. Since it was almost 3 yrs ago, I'm not certain she remembers us.
Any insight out there?

We have a six year old and about 2 years ago she did pretty much the same thing. I had a girlfriend here, who is a cardiologist and she said she thought it was a siezure. As far as we know it has not happenned again and we are with her most of the time because we work out of our house. I hope this was a one time episode for you, too.

Thank you so much for the insight, we are heading to Pinot's primary Vet tomorrow, we will see what he has to say. He has been fine tonight, hopefully it is a one time thing. Thanks again!

Hi, thanks so much for the warm welcome.
The vet does think he may have had a minor seizure. He said it's very common in smaller dogs, that they can have them once in their life or a bunch of times. He did give us a Rx to fill and have on hand if he does have them again. So far, he has been completely normal! We hope it never happens again!

Hi Melissa! Welcome to IG Post! I'm so glad to hear that Pinot is doing well.
I have 4 IGs, and we live in Hunterdon County. There are quite a few of us IG-loving folks here in NJ, and we occasionally have play dates - both indoor and outdoor. Hope to meet you at one in the near future.
